BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.
Gamers have begun turning to personalized games set up using the custom game tool to complete them, emphasizing just how demanding these assignments have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. There are four classes of assignments, but although many simply offer skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.
Some of these locked weapons might eventually find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
Within Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and only works at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Mission
One more community participant pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a personal session so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
Currently, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in subsequent patches.
