An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two young males who were between nine and ten.

The accused was detained after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the location in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.

The defendant played a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the children "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She stated the man proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.

"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson called the authorities a second time.

She said the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
