It's Not Entirely Deceptions with Donald Trump – Sometimes He's Unnervingly Honest

Channel 4 is planning to mark Donald Trump's visit to the UK with what it describes as "the longest nonstop sequence of untruths, inaccuracies and distortions ever broadcast on television". The program, called Trump v The Truth, will showcase in excess of 100 of Trump's untruthful claims or misleading statements. Among these are baseless allegations from the expense of eggs to offensive lies about US spending on condoms for Hamas.

However, to ensure fairness, it's only right to acknowledge that not everything from the former president is false. Sometimes, Trump can be surprisingly wise. Just this week, a video was shared online depicting Trump telling guests at a gala at one of his golf clubs: "Educated folks aren’t fond of me, you know?" He added: "And they don’t like what we talk about." No lies found there.

Intelligent individuals aren’t fond of me, you know? And they disapprove of what we address.

Moreover, Trump has voiced his thoughts on the fate of his afterlife. In August, in a Tuesday morning, the one-time head of state reportedly stated that he is trying to halt the war in Ukraine so that God can save him a spot in heaven. "I wish to try and reach heaven, should it be feasible," he explained. "Rumors suggest I’m not doing well. I am really at the base of the totem pole." Although it's impossible to fact-check the specific placement Trump stands on the divine queue, many could concur that his evaluation seems spot-on.

Trump has also been more direct about the electoral system than some of his predecessors. During his campaign for president in 2015, he matter-of-factly said that he had employed his finances to sway politicians. "I donated to many people earlier," he remarked in a Republican candidates’ debate. "And you know what, when I require something from them in the future … I contact them. They respond for me. That’s a broken system." Honester remarks have never been spoken; absolutely not by Trump individually.

In summary, although a great deal of Trump's discourse is filled with untruths, at times when his bluntness reveals unsettling facts concerning government, influence, and even introspection.
